Oberlin College- Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies

Oberlin College, my alma mater, most environmental friendly school in the United States by the Sierra Club. The November/December 2007 cover story of Sierra, the Sierra Club’s magazine, named Oberlin College number one among America’s Top 10 “Coolest” schools. Among the many environmentally conscious measures Oberlin has taken was striking a deal with City Wheels (www.mycitywheels.com), the northeast Ohio car sharing company that got initial seed money and mentorship from the Civic Innovation Lab (www.civicinnovationlab.org). Coverage of the award is presented by the Morning Journal.

Oberlin is also the alma mater of Sadhu Johnston, Chicago’s Commissioner for the Environment (see Chicago Sun Times background on Sadhu at http://blogs.suntimes.com/homes/2006/11/sadhu_johnston.html). Sadhu was a leader in developing Oberlin’s Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies, and founded The Green Building Coalition in Cleveland, Ohio.
